The U.S. faces significant challenges in ensuring reliable and affordable energy to support economic growth and national security. In the electricity sector, rapidly rising demand is straining existing generation and transmission capacity, while aging infrastructure and cyber/physical threats pose additional risks. At the same time, significantly higher electricity prices are starting to challenge consumers while increasing costs present difficulties both for financing and implementing necessary infrastructure upgrades. These factors together create an urgent need for coordinated investment and innovation to meet the coming decade’s energy demands, especially in the context of rising geopolitical competition and tensions.

The Honorable Lucian Niemeyer, former Assistant Secretary of Defense for Installations, Energy and Environment will present solutions proposed by the Department of Defense and Energy to finance the development of large-scale power plants behind the meter to reduce the load on the existing grids while meeting the needs for future national economic prosperity.

Mr. Niemeyer will be joined by David Brown, Senior Vice President, Federal Government Affairs & Public Policy at Constellation Energy, who will provide the perspective of one of America's largest energy companies and its leading nuclear power plant operator, with over 19,000 megawatts of nuclear generating capacity.

A buffet lunch will be served.

Please note that the Army and Navy Club has a Dress Code:  Business attire (jackets, dress trousers, collared shirt (tucked-in) or turtleneck for gentlemen and comparable attire for ladies) is the minimum expected at all times.  Denim and sneakers are not permitted.
