The National Capital Area Chapter of the U.S. Association for Energy Economics is offering a tour of the Washington Gas Light training facility in Springfield, Virginia, on Thursday, February 21, 2019.

The facility at the company's operations center, known as Pipetown, was built to simulate an urban community. Pipetown was designed to provide the most realistic training environment possible for field operators, line supervisors and emergency responders.

WGL officials will discuss operations, dispatch and the company's Accelerated Pipe Replacement Plan, followed by a question and answer session. If you want to know how natural gas moves to the burnertip from the citygate of a local distribution company, this is an excellent learning opportunity.

Bus transportation will be provided. To arrive at 8:15 AM like WGL desires, it is prudent to board the bus at 7:15 AM at the Smithsonian Metro at 1201 Independence Ave. SW near the Knapp Memorial Arch. We will probably get lunch at a local restaurant after the tour. Suggestions are being accepted.
